FAQ

Health and Safety – Updated October 15, 2021

To our Enterprise Data World Community,

All of us at DATAVERSITY would like to thank you for your continued support. While the last 18 months have been full of uncertainties, we are committed to conducting the 2022 Enterprise Data World (EDW) Conference in San Diego, as an in-person event.

To ensure the safest possible environment for all participants, we have chosen to implement a “fully vaccinated” requirement for EDW in 2022. We hope that this also provides certainty and confidence as you seek corporate approval to fund your attendance, and as you make your travel plans.

There is ample data and research to support this decision. According to recent research conducted by Freeman (an event management company), it is typical for at least 88% of B2B conference attendees to already be fully vaccinated, and this ratio is even higher for IT events. We have also been working with an organization called Epistemix, which carries out predictive modeling of risk factors for large events, to obtain specific estimates of the likelihood of COVID-19 cases arising from EDW 2022 attendance. We expect to receive their findings any day now and will share their findings as soon as they are available, but the preliminary projections are that less than one (< 1) COVID case is likely to arise from attendance at EDW in 2022.

Our decision is also aligned with many other major events now requiring vaccinations, from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and the HIMSS conference, to many concerts, stage shows, and other large public gatherings. It is clear that the expectations of our community are strongly aligned towards “vaccine required.”

I expect that there will be some folks who object to this policy or are unable to cooperate with it due to specific and legitimate personal concerns. For those folks, I sincerely regret that we cannot accommodate you at the moment. If you'd like to contact me directly (tony@dataversity.net) so that we can help you to access the valuable content of the conference, then we will do our utmost to help you out.

I expect that in the coming weeks we will publish additional information here with the objective of increasing the confidence of all EDW participants. We will also provide clarity about the validation and testing processes that will be in place at the conference.

Many thanks,

Tony Shaw

FAQ

Q. What COVID-19 procedures and policies will be implemented at EDW 2022?

A. We will be requiring 1) proof of vaccination from all conference attendees and 2) face coverings to be worn by attendees in all indoor meeting spaces. See our Conference Policies for more.

Q. How will you be verifying proof of vaccination for the event?

A. Proof of vaccinations will be verified through the third-party application CLEAR. Details on this process will be announced closer to the event.

Q. What happens if the in-person event is canceled?

A. If COVID restrictions escalate to levels where we are forced to restructure the event, we will make an announcement here, as well as reach out to all participants by email. You can also review our cancellation policies for additional details. If you have additional questions, please contact us at registration@dataversity.net and our staff will happily assist you.

Q. What is Enterprise Data World (EDW)?

A. The 26th annual Enterprise Data World Conference is recognized as the most comprehensive educational Data Management conference in the world. Over six days, over 125 speakers present a diverse schedule of programming that addresses every level of proficiency.

Several simultaneous topic tracks and the variety of sessions (keynotes, workshops, tutorials, case studies) make it easy for each of our 800+ attendees to tailor their ideal agenda!

Q. Interested in speaking

A. Most of the sessions are selected through a Call for Presentations (CFP) process. Our most recent CFP started in July of 2021, and we received over 280 applications to speak. This process is now closed. If you would like to apply to speak in the future, please add your name to our CFP list by emailing speakers@dataversity.net

Additionally, some sessions such as keynotes and panels are developed through specific invitations to the speakers. There are also some vendor speaking sessions that are identified on the program agenda as “Sponsored.”

Q. How do I become a sponsor?

A. Contact our Sponsorship Director Warwick Davies at warwick@dataversity.net or call (781) 354-0119.

Q. What is the CDMP, and how do I get CDMP Certified?

A. The Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) is the premier professional certification program in Data Management and is designed and administered by DAMA International. DATAVERSITY conducts CDMP exams at most of our in-person events, including EDW, as part of our long-running partnership with DAMA. Further information about the CDMP will soon be available on our CDMP page.

Q. Can I attend EDW virtually?

A. At the time of writing (October 2021), we do not offer a virtual attendance option.

Q. Will the EDW presentations be recorded?

A. We will be providing more details on video options soon.

Q. What if my question wasn't answered above?

A. For registration questions, email registration@dataversity.net. For all other queries, email events@dataversity.net.
